The Forget Me Not Garden Project
The Vision
It was decided to create a very special page on our web site, the Forget Me Not garden, a comforting and tranquil place people could visit to remember their baby.
The Journey
In 2007 the search began for an artist in Cornwall to turn the vision into reality. It proved to be a more difficult task than ever imagined.
In 2009 following a posting on a local networking site an artist was found and in June 2009 our painting was complete.
The on-line Memorial Garden
It would have been an endless task for our artist to paint each animal numerous times to enable us to animate them. Using a scanned image our web designer Mike removed the existing ones and spent hours searching for appropriate images to create the animated graphics.

"I was delighted to accept the Forget Me Not Commission for a number of reasons. I am an illustrator, signwriter and mural painter. But above all I am a father, and I have some experience of the heartache that the charity addresses. Subjects from nature have always been my favourite, and the Forget Me Not Garden appealed to this preference. But I believe that art should not be precious. My work is meant to be representative, functional even. I like it to be beautiful, but not pretentious. (A bird should look like a bird!) and I hope that this approach has helped to create a sense of an environment suited to reflection and celebration".

Mike runs his own web design company MJB Web Design based in St Austell, Cornwall. He worked closely with Jenny during 2008 to create the new web site for Forget Me Not following a donation from St Austell Brewery. We have thrown many challenges Mike’s way and can always rely on him to help with any new projects or IT queries. Often things are new experiences for us all, but we get there in the end! |
